    Hugh Bodell's R8 Quiz #127

Here's R8 quiz 127: Is this the same fraction size as on 1806 large 6 half cents? Is this reverse die damage called sinking, dishing or polishing? What Cohen variety is this? What is the nickname of this obverse in later die states? The piece of this variety appearing in the M & G fpl of the Michael Spurlock Collection of Half Cents grades vf, xf or au? Enjoy, and have happy holidays! HB

The coin in R8 quiz 127 does not have the same size fraction as 1806 large 6 half cents. The reverse is sinking and is the late die state of 1804 C-1. This obverse die later becomes the famous "spiked chin". The former Spurlock '04 C-1 is a beautiful XF.
