    Verdigris

How can I lift a bit of verdigris from an otherwise very nice coin?
    Thanks

I'll await answers here as well. I started a thread entitled "Verdigris and Other Gunk", but it has been quieter than I'd care for.

As I posted in Ponyseeker's thread, I recommend a product called Verdi-Care. Do read and follow directions and I also suggest some testing on Lincoln cents.

soaking in amonia is supposed to remove the green stuff. Read it on a site that addresses
    cleaning ancient Roman coins.

You can use Acetone or Xylol for removing some of the surface crud and also for crud in devices you can use a rose thorn to assist in digging it out. But remember if the Verdigris has been on the coin for some time it will probably have caused permanent damage. Also be careful when using those products as some do not believe in the use of them(altering the surface of the coins).....
    Take it easy.....Leo
