1786 M.24-P New Jersey from EAC 2011
I thought I would share a purchase from last May's EAC sale, lot 7. This was my first ever EAC auction win! (Also my first EAC auction

Too bad someone felt they needed to add a little artwork on the reverse. The scratches outlining the shield aren't obvious in hand though. All in all, just a neat NJ with a cleaner than usual planchet IMO.

Hi Matt
Is this your first NJ Copper? It is a representative example of this series. The obverse has design elements taken from the State Seal while the reverse has what I consider a "Federal" design and legend. Don't worry about the signs of "idle hands" from generations ago. It adds character. You have a nice piece of history from the first year they were authorized to be struck. Thanks for sharing

This was my second New Jersey. It's a pretty new field for me but I love the design, the backstory, and can't wait to add my next variety. Do you know anyone who has the new book by Mike Demling? It's on my Christmas list.

Matt,
Having this need to obtain everything written about NJ Coppers, I do have a copy of this book. Mike Demling has made this beautiful attribution guide and you will love all the large images and attribution points. Are you going to be able to wait until Christmas to unwrap it?

Hi Boys -- I purchased the new Demling NJ book at the Philadelphia Whitman Show in September. WHAT A GREAT BOOK !!!!!!
Matt -- you will enjoy this book. A heck of a lot easier to use than the Maris book.

Ray,
Can't say that i was disappointed, but that package turned out to be Breen's Early United States Cents! But I'm going to pick up the NJ book ASAP!

Matt,
I saw mike Demling at the Americana Sale and he has a package he gave me to correct some errors in the NJ Book. The package includes some written information and also some self-adhesive pictures which are to be placed over the incorrect ones. You should comtact Mik D if you don't have this. Nice book for attribution and information!

Thanks Ray. I'll drop Mike a line. I picked up the book about a month ago. Love it! So much easier to use than the Bowers Encyclopedia and much more detailed.
