Damage or Planchet Flaw ?
This is the first Half Cent I've owned in several years. In fact, it's what made me decide to start building a collection. Found it in an antique mall for $42. It has either had a really rough life, or was struck on a flawed planchet. I'm leaning toward post mint damage. The punch on the obverse doesn't cause a rise in the metal on the reverse like I thought it would. There is a smooth blob there. Maybe holed then later plugged? Also, there is very uneven wear on this coin. Some details are pretty evident, while some are not. What do you think?
