Hi, I have been collecting coins for about five years. I was working on a US type set and really narrowed in on early copper coins. I decided to start a date set of large cents with some "redbook" varieties about 8 months ago. I would like to learn more about Sheldon and Newcomb varieties and will be buying some Noyes books, etc. hopefully soon.

Welcome. It sounds like we are in the exact same place, I started about 4 years ago and began a focus on large cents earlier this year as well. I am blown away by the varieties and how small some of the differences are.
Would love to hear more about what you have collected so far and what you are still missing. Are you focusing on one range (early/mid/late) or trying to get all dates? Personally I started with the late dates but have already slipped into the mid.

Welcome aboard, Loupe 79. Considering your interests, you've found the right place to frequent. While I'm personally not much into the varieties, preferring counterstamps in general, there are doubtless many rare varieties out there, awaiting discovery. I've managed to find four such coins now in the past few years, including two NC's. Happy hunting!
